Sunday 28 March 2027

Easter falls on Sunday 28 March 2027, then Sunday 16 April 2028 and Sunday 1 April 2029. Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in most cantons, so deliveries are reduced over this long weekend and we would advise ordering before the Thursday.

Easter is the moment when the first flowers of the season reappear at florists across French-speaking Switzerland. Tulips and daffodils form the base: they arrive in bunches, hold up well in a vase of fresh water and survive the journey to the family table. Add hyacinths, grape hyacinths and ranunculus, along with branches of forsythia, cherry or willow to give the bouquet some height. The colours stay simple: yellow, white, soft green and pastels.

We ranked six services delivering in Switzerland on what matters for this occasion: the freshness of the spring flowers, the quality of the hand-tied arrangement and the reliability of delivery times over a three-day weekend. Expect to pay CHF 40 to 80 for an Easter bouquet. For a gift that lasts, a potted bulb remains a good bet.

Which flowers to give

Which flowers to give at Easter

Easter follows the spring flower calendar: anything that grows from a bulb or on a branch is available. Here is how to put a bouquet together depending on the effect you want.

The classics

The base of any Easter bouquet, available everywhere in season.

  • Tulips white or pastel
  • Daffodils (narcissi) the yellow of Easter
  • Hyacinths strong scent
  • Ranunculus layered petals

The branches

They add volume and height without weighing things down.

  • Forsythia bright yellow
  • Cherry buds that open up
  • Willow downy catkins
  • Branches on their own in a vase graphic effect

Potted bulbs

For a gift that lives longer than cut flowers.

  • Potted hyacinth a lasting gift
  • Potted grape hyacinth understated blue
  • Potted narcissi can be replanted in the garden
  • Mini bulb arrangement for a windowsill

The colours

A short palette is all you need for a festive bouquet.

  • Yellow the colour of the occasion
  • White goes with everything
  • Soft green foliage and buds
  • Pastels gentle pink and lilac
Good to know. Cut daffodils release a sap that damages other flowers. Let them stand on their own in a vase of water for a few hours, then rinse the stems before mixing them with your tulips. If you receive a mixed bouquet prepared by a florist, that step has already been taken care of: change the water every two days and keep the vase away from the radiator.

Our advice

Our advice for your situation

Three situations come up every year before Easter. Here is how we would handle them.

The bouquet for the dinner table. Keep the arrangement low so guests can see one another: tulips and ranunculus cut short, a few grape hyacinths and two or three sprigs of forsythia. Yellow, white and soft green sit beautifully alongside painted eggs. A ceramic jug works just as well as a vase.

The gift that outlasts the celebration. A potted bulb, hyacinth or grape hyacinth, keeps flowering after the weekend and can then be replanted in the garden. It is a good idea for a godmother or for grandparents who already receive plenty of cut flowers. The budget is the same as for a small bouquet.

The last-minute order. As Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in most cantons, aim for a Thursday delivery. In Geneva and Lausanne, Kanel delivers within a few hours. Elsewhere in Switzerland, count on next-day delivery and so order early in the week.

Frequently asked questions

Which flowers should I choose for an Easter bouquet?
Spring flowers: tulips, daffodils (narcissi), hyacinths, grape hyacinths and ranunculus, rounded off with branches of forsythia, cherry or willow. Stick to yellow, white, soft green and pastels: they dress an Easter table best.
When should I order flowers for Easter 2027?
Easter 2027 falls on Sunday 28 March 2027. Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in most cantons and deliveries are reduced over this long weekend, so order before the Thursday to be on the safe side.
How much does an Easter bouquet cost?
Expect CHF 40 to 80 for a seasonal bouquet delivered. At the lower end you will get a generous bunch of tulips or daffodils. Higher up, an arrangement mixing bulbs, ranunculus and branches. A potted bulb is a longer-lasting alternative.
Can daffodils and tulips go in the same vase?
Yes, on one condition: cut daffodils release a sap that damages other flowers. Let them stand on their own for a few hours, rinse the stems and then put the bouquet together. Arrangements prepared by a florist have already been through this step.
Are flowers delivered on Good Friday or Easter Monday?
Both days are public holidays in most cantons and deliveries are reduced over this long weekend. It is better to aim for the Thursday. In Geneva and Lausanne, express delivery within a few hours is still possible on weekdays with Kanel.
